Why we exist.
How it all began
Midwife care in Germany is close to our hearts — and at the latest when you become a parent yourself, you run into this challenge very personally: every pregnant woman is entitled to midwife care, yet finding a midwife is a real struggle in many places. We couldn't and wouldn't ignore that — so we looked closely into how the situation could genuinely be improved.
We're close to the profession: we're in regular contact with midwives, know the difficulties on both sides — those of women searching and those of midwives working at full capacity — and worked out solutions together with experienced midwives.
Our years of experience in IT, project and process management gave us the tools for it: this is exactly where we can take the load off. We designed hebammen.agency in 2025 and launched in early 2026 — we take over the work that would otherwise fall on the pregnant woman, in a structured and personal way. And in a way that creates no extra effort for anyone: no pregnant woman calls through lists herself, no midwife has to maintain a profile or learn any software. We take nothing from midwives — no fees, no obligation.
Built with ♥ for expectant mothers.
Why we're needed
The care gap isn't a feeling — it's measurable:
Every single midwife faces a large number of enquiries — and has only limited places available.
The green dot is the appointment proposal — the red ones remain declines or unanswered. With follow-ups, a single search can involve up to 80 contacts.
Behind this ratio are real people — and an enormous burden on both sides: pregnant women have to fight for the care they're legally entitled to. And midwives are completely booked out, have to turn people away every day — and carry substantial administrative work on top of caring for their clients.
On top of that: self-employed midwives are almost always working alone. They organise themselves, finance themselves and carry everything on their own — from the responsibility to the last piece of paperwork.
Our stance on this is clear: things can't go on like this. The current trend and the lack of political support are more likely to push this system further towards collapse than to bring about effective solutions. We don't want to wait for that — which is exactly why hebammen.agency exists.

What we stand for
Our goal is bigger than any single search: we want to help close the care gap — so that pregnant women actually receive the midwife care they're legally entitled to. The hardship has two sides: women can't find a midwife, and midwives have to turn people away every day. That's exactly where we come in — with structure instead of scattergun effort, so that existing capacity reaches where it's needed.
One day, free for every pregnant woman
The price we currently charge pregnant women doesn't come close to covering the effort behind a successful midwife search. We're not driven by financial motives — our goal is to improve the care situation. That's why we're fighting with everything we have for this service to one day be handled directly through the health insurance funds — which would make it free for every pregnant woman. That's a long road, and we're confident we'll get there. Until then, we can't avoid a small contribution — and we give it our all for it, every day.
